What started as one coach's garage cleat drive is now a foundation working across Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.
A rec-league coach kept noticing the same kid showing up to practice without cleats — always some excuse, never the real one. It took a few weeks before he learned the truth: the family simply couldn't afford them on top of the registration fee.
He started asking around. Turned out it wasn't one kid, or one team. Across Tampa Bay, coaches were quietly covering fees out of pocket, digging through their garages for spare gear, and watching talented, excited kids sit out seasons over costs that felt small to some families and impossible to others.
Tampa Bay Youth Sports Foundation was formed to make that support real, organized, and available to every family who needs it — not dependent on which coach happened to notice.
To remove the financial and logistical barriers that keep Tampa Bay youth off the field, court, and track — through direct funding, equipment, and mentorship.
A Tampa Bay where a family's income never determines whether a kid gets to play, compete, and belong to a team.
No red tape for families. Coaches and school counselors refer kids directly, and support is need-based, confidential, and fast.
